Frequently asked questions

Find clear answers on washing delicate upcycled textiles safely at home.

How do I wash and care for upcycled garments?

We strongly recommend hand washing or machine washing on a delicate, cold cycle with a mild eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that can break down vintage and repurposed fibers.

Can I put my RiverLee clothes in the dryer?

To protect delicate stitches and prevent unexpected shrinkage, always lay flat or hang to air dry. Machine drying can stress vintage seams and alter the silhouette of hand-sewn garments.

How do I iron or steam handmade pieces?

Steaming is the gentlest way to remove wrinkles from mixed fabrics. If ironing is necessary, use a low heat setting and place a thin pressing cloth between the iron and the garment to protect delicate textures.

What fabric information is included with each piece?

Every garment listing details the sourced textiles used in that specific design—such as cotton, linen, denim, or silk blends—along with any special fiber care recommendations to ensure longevity.
